We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

Our History

Beginning in the early 1900's, Oren "O.L." Robinette opened a general store in Blackwater, VA. Around 1936, O.L began selling caskets out of a small one room building next to his general store. At that time all funerals in the Blackwater community were held in either someone's home or church, so there was no need for a formal funeral parlor. O.L. died at an early age due to health problems and left his son Ralph O. Robinette to run the family businesses. He and his wife Sue continued to grow the business by building a formal funeral home on the property and later adding a formal chapel onto the building. They operated the funeral home and general store until around 1999 when illness prevented them from taking part in the daily operations. Sue passed away in July of 2000 and Ralph in April of 2001.

Upon the passing of Ralph and Sue, Pat and his wife Judy Osborne Robinette assumed ownership of the businesses. Pat has been in funeral service all of his life. Now, their children Kirby and her husband Adam, Ashley and Adrian have active roles in the operations of the funeral homes as well. In May of 2013, Pat and Judy purchased Arney-Mullins Funeral Homes in Jonesville and Rose Hill, VA and changed the names of those two locations to Robinette Funeral Home to reflect the legacy of service the Robinette family has provided to the people of Lee County for generations.
