Lucille Susie Middleton
September 29, 1932 - December 1, 2017
Jonesville, VA Miss Lucille Sue (Susie) Middleton died December 1, 2017 surrounded by love from family members. She was born September 29, 1932 at her home in Jonesville, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elgie Jane and Shelby Jonathan Middleton, brothers, Elmer (Buster) killed in action in World War 11 , Norman, Elgie, Curtis and Charles Middleton, sisters, Naomi and Hazel. She is survived by one sister, Florence Neff, one brother, Shelby J. Middleton, Jr. and wife, Jetty R., nieces, Peggy Long, Shellie Jean Shortridge, Jetty Jean Lewis, Debra, Cynthia and Lisa Middleton, nephews, Jerry Middleton, Gary Middleton, Ronnie Neff, Terry and Brian Middleton. Susie graduated from Flatwood High School, earned a BS degree in education from Lincoln Memorial University and Master’s Degree from Madison University. She taught history at Pennington Gap School and served in guidance at Elydale and Rose Hill Elementary School. She taught for a total of 36 years. Susie was a Christian and a lifetime member of Hardy’s Creek Baptist Church. She was generous to these who wore less fortunate than she. She took in and called for abandoned animals. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM at Robinette Funeral Home in Rose Hill, VA Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Charles Long officiating Burial will follow in the Ely-Middleton Cemetery. Robinette Funeral Home of Rose Hill is serving the family of Lucille Middleton.
