Rose Hill, VA Jerry Wayne McConnell was 71 years young when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 27, 2020. He was the youngest of 8 children to Jess and Susie Cooper McConnell. He was born at home in Rose Hill, VA on June 27, 1949. He was saved at the tender age of 9, a member of Mt. Olivet Christian Church and became Deacon in 1988. He married the love of his life at a young age of 19. They had two girls together and was so proud of them. Each one gave him a grandson, two bonus granddaughters and two bonus grandsons. He worked for Lanningham Oil Company for 18 years prior to working 5 years at USXpress as an over the road truck driver before retiring. He visited all 48 states and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Susie McConnell, brothers, James, Hugh, Jess, Bob, Harry, and two sisters, Rose and Margaret. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 52 years Debbie McConnell, two daughters, Vickie Brown (Chris), and Alesha Carmony (Bobby). Grandchildren Jeremiah Payne, Aidan Brown, Ivy Coker (George), Ryan Carmony, Lukus Carmony and Bo Carmony. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2-3PM an August 31, 2020 at Robinette Funeral Home, Rose Hill, VA A celebration of life will follow at 3PM with Rev. Robert Howard officiating from the funeral home chapel in Rose Hill, VA. Burial will follow at Garrett Cemetery, Rose Hill, VA In lieu of flowers the family request monetary donations for funeral expenses.
